Toyota Dis's PHEV - Popular Mechanics

Toyota Prius Battery Problems - Electric Motors Rethink at Toyota - Popular Mechanics: "For all their long-standing promises of ultralow fuel costs for consumers and mega-efficiency for the environment, plug-in hybrid cars have never been as hotly anticipated as they've become in the past month. Sens. John McCain and Barack Obama are promising them as answers to America's dependence on foreign oil. General Motors just unveiled the production version of its Chevy Volt, with more siblings on the way, as answers to high prices at the pump. Chrysler shocked the world last week with three new electric vehicles as answers to falling sales. Nissan (with its 150-mile-range EV-02), Mitsubishi (with its iMiev microcar) and several other major car manufacturers have all recently affirmed that their answers for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) are well on the way to American shores. Tesla Motors last month perfected its drivetrain and ramped up production of its all-electric Roadster as an answer to the economic downturn."
